Golfers Prepare for Second Tournaments of the Season

The UCLA men's and women's golf teams will begin play this week in key tournaments on the West Coast.

The women's team travels to Tacoma, WA, for the annual Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington at the Tacoma CC.

The men's team travels to the Valley to play in the Pepperdine Invitational beginning Monday at Saticoy Country club near Oxnard.

Sophomore Yvonne Choe leads the women's team, which finished second in its first tournament of the season at Oregon State. Juniors Hana Kim and Gina Umeck, sophomore Charlotte Mayorkas and freshman Susie Mathews round out the lineup.

The fourth-ranked UCLA men, who won thier first tournament in four years last month with a 16-shot victory at the Pacific Invitational, will send juniors Travis Johnson, Roy Moon, John Merrick and Steve Conway and freshman Spencer Levin. Levin and Johnson tied for fifth place at Pacific, and Conway and Merrick tied for seventh.
