Soccer Falls to Portland, 3-0

PORTLAND, Ore. - The University of Oregon women's soccer team dropped its final non-conference match of the season, losing 3-0 to No. 5 Portland at Merlo Field at the University of Portland.

The Pilots scored first at 21:34 on a 12-yard score by Emily Patterson on an assist by Lindsey Huie. In the second half, Portland added goals by Kristen Rogers (unassisted) at 46:40 and Christine Sinclair (assist by Erin Misaki) at 51:10.

Portland held advantages in shots (19-4) and corner kicks (9-0), while the Ducks were whistled for a 10-6 advantage in fouls.

UO senior goalkeeper Sarah Peters finished with seven saves, compared to two for UP's starting keeper Lauren Arase.

Senior forward and Eugene native Sarah Denner led the Ducks in shots (2), and tied for the team lead in shots on goal (1) with freshman defender Jessica Fetzer.

Portland's win raised their record to an impressive 10-2-1 mark after starting the season 0-2.

Looking ahead, the Ducks (1-7-1) return home to host No. 14 Washington, Fri., Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. and Washington State, Sun., Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.
