Midnight Madness Event Set For Friday Night At Lyon Center

Oct. 8, 2002

The USC men's basketball team, coming off of its second consecutive 20-win season and NCAA Tournament appearance, and the Women of Troy basketball team currently ranked in preseason Top 25 polls, kick off practice for the 2003 season with a Midnight Madness event on Friday (Oct. 11) at the Lyon Center on the USC campus. Doors open at 11 p.m.

Tickets, priced at $5 ($3 for students with ID), can be purchased at the USC Ticket Office or by calling 213-740-4672.

The NCAA-mandated first official day of basketball practice is Saturday (Oct. 12), so fans will get their first peek at the Trojans and Women of Troy when the teams hit the floor at midnight.

The event will feature introductions of both teams as well as shooting and dunking contests. Prizes will be given throughout the night.

The men's team, led by 2002 Pac-10 All-Freshman guard Errick Craven and two-year veteran Desmon Farmer, hosts a pair of exhibition games on Nov. 9 at the Lyon Center at 7 p.m. and at the Sports Arena on Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. The latter game is the first in a doubleheader with the Women of Troy, who play their season-opener vs. Northern Arizona in the first round of the NIT at 7:30 p.m.

The women's squad, featuring All-American candidates forward Ebony Hoffman and guard Aisha Hollans, plays its only exhibition game on Nov. 12 at the Lyon Center at 7 p.m.
