Amber Liu Advances To The Final Qualifying Round Of Riviera/ITA Championships

Pacific Palisades, Calif. - Freshman Amber Liu picked up her first two victories of her collegiate career on Wednesday in the first and second rounds of the qualifying draw at the 2002 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades.
Liu defeated Maryland's Emily Marker in the first round 6-0, 6-2. She then went on to upset 13th-seeded Sarah Witten of Kentucky 6-1, 6-2 in the second round.
In the final qualifying round, Liu will face Katie Granson of Duke on Thursday morning for the right to advance to the main draw.
The ITA All-American main draw begins on Thursday and will feature Stanford All-Americans Lauren Barnikow and Erin Burdette. Both Barnikow and Burdette are entered in the singles draw and will also team up in the doubles main draw.
