Carter, Klaic Fall In ITA All-American Championships Main Draw

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif.- The Washington women's tennis doubles team of junior Claire Carter and senior Darija Klaic suffered a first-round loss at the Women's ITA All-American Championships main draw held at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., today.

Carter and Klaic were defeated by the team of Alexis Gordon and Julia Scaringe from Florida, 8-4.

The Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships and it's men's counterpart - Icy Hot/ITA Men's All-American Championships - are the first of three national championship tournaments for collegiate tennis during the 2002-03 season. The two other tournaments (for singles and doubles only) are the Omni Hotels/ITA National Indoor Championships in November and the season-ending NCAA Championships in May.
