Stanford Falls In Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships

Pacific Palisades, Calif. - Stanford women's tennis player Amber Liu knocked off top-seeded Vilmarie Castellvi of Tennessee 6-2, 6-4, but fell to Mississippi's Mira Radu in the quarterfinals of the 2002 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships on Friday afternoon in Pacific Palisades.

Radu was beating Liu 4-2, before the Stanford freshman withdrew due to injury.

In consolation action, Lauren Barnikow defeated Arizona State's Adria Engel 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. Barnikow then advanced to the consolation quarterfinals where she was beaten by Sadhaf Pervez of Ohio State in a walkover.
