No. 5 Cal Suffers 2-0 Shutout to USC

LOS ANGELES - No. 5 California lost its second straight Pac-10 game, falling to No. 15 USC, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at McAlister Field. The Golden Bears fell to 7-4-1 (0-2 Pac-10). The Trojans improved their record to 6-4-3 (1-1 Pac-10).

The two USC goals came within a three-minute span, as Amy Mann headed in the first goal at the 64:16 mark and Ali Fennell converted a 15-yard blast at 66:43.

USC outshot Cal 19-7 for the match and did not allow a shot on goal to the Bears. Forward Laura Schott returned to Cal's starting lineup for the first time since the Aug. 30 season opener (a 2-0 win over Ohio State) and registered two shots.

Bears goalkeeper Sani Post made a career-high seven saves in the losing effort.

Cal faces Oregon Friday, Oct. 18, for its Pac-10 home opener at Edward Stadium. Kick-off is at 3:30 p.m.
