Women's Crew Announces 2002-03 Schedule
Oct. 15, 2002
Cal women's crew head coach Dave O'Neill has announced the race schedule for the fall and spring. The team will compete in the longer head races in the fall, including the Head of the Charles in Boston, while keeping an eye on the traditional spring season. 'The competition we will face in the spring is outstanding, and we are really looking forward to it,' said O'Neill. 'The biggest change for next year is a new regatta, the Windemere Crew Classic. Six of the top 10 from the 2002 NCAA's will be present, so it should be a terrific event.'
Throughout the spring campaign, the Cal women will be tested. Aside from the Windemere Crew Classic, the addition of the University of Victoria, the Canadian collegiate champion, gives Cal a good race to begin the season, and the traditional duel against Washington, NCAA champion in the varsity and second varsity eights, highlights the season. 'It is great to see such competition on the West Coast. There will be no easy races, and this schedule should set us up well for the Pac-10 and NCAA Championships,' said O'Neill.
