LOS ANGELES (AP) - Carson Palmer threw for 348 yards and four touchdowns -three to freshman Mike Williams - as No. 19 Southern California beat No. 22Washington 41-21 Saturday.

USC (5-2, 3-1 Pac-10) built a 34-7 lead in the first three quarters on theway to its second victory over the Huskies (4-3, 1-2) in six meetings dating to1995.

Palmer, a fifth-year senior, threw scoring strikes of 43, 14 and 11 yards toWilliams. The Trojans' quarterback, who went 21-of-34, also connected withKeary Colbert on a 61-yard scoring play.

Williams, a rangy 6-foot-5, 210-pounder starting because Kareem Kelly wasslowed by an injury, had nine catches for 159 yards.

With the Huskies trailing 34-7, Cody Pickett passed for a pair of touchdownsearly in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 13 points. Pickett threw a2-yard scoring pass to Kevin Ware with 13:30 remaining, then hit ReggieWilliams for a 27-yard touchdown three minutes later.

After another Washington drive stalled, the Trojans put the game away on a13-yard touchdown run by Justin Fargas.

The Trojans' defense, led by safety Troy Polamalu, held the Huskies tominus-5 yards rushing on 19 carries.

Pickett, who came in as the nation's second-leading passer, went 34-of-61for 350 yards and three touchdowns. He threw two interceptions.

Reggie Williams had seven receptions for 134 yards.

The game was only the Huskies' second on the road this season, and firstsince a 31-29 loss at Michigan in the season opener.

Ryan Killeen added field goals of 30 and 33 yards for USC.

After being intercepted on the first play of the game, Palmer finished thefirst half with eight completions in 15 passes for 210 yards, including a pairof touchdowns.

Colbert was a couple of steps beyond the nearest defender when Palmer threwa perfect pass some 55 yards down the field. Colbert took the ball in stride atthe 15, and the 61-yard TD put the Trojans up 14-7 four minutes into the secondquarter.

Mike Williams gave the Trojans the lead with 2:47 left in the first quarterwhen he came wide open behind the Washington defense and took Palmer's perfectthrow for a 43-yard TD.

Pickett drew the Huskies even before the quarter ended, connecting with PaulArnold in the back of the end zone for a 5-yard touchdown.

The Trojans' 41 points were the most they've scored against Washington sincea 42-11 victory in 1974.
