Wayne Wong Advances to Finals of San Diego Tournament

San Diego, Calif. - Wayne Wong has kept Cal's hopes alive, sweeping his way through the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of the San Diego All-College Tournament taking place this weekend at the University of San Diego.
Wong defeated Arizona's Colin O'Grady, 6-2, 6-7, 6-2, in the quarterfinals and San Diego State's Nic Beuque, 6-3, 6-7, 6-1, in the semifinals on Saturday, to advance to the finals of the All-College Tournament to be played on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
Wong will face off against San Diego State's Daniel Jung in tomorrow's finale. Jung was challenged by San Diego's Pierrick Ysern in the quarterfinals, advancing via a three set victory, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5. The victory advanced Jung to a semifinal match against Tigran Martirosyan of Loyola Marymount. He faired better in the semis, moving on in a straight set victory, 6-4, 7-6, over Martirosyan, pushing him into the finals.
Cal will be back in action Oct. 26-29 when it travels to the Omni Hotels Regionals.
