Husky Golfers Defend Nelson Title

Seattle - The Washington men's golf team returns to the links this week when the Huskies defend their team championship at Stanford's Nelson Invitational. The three-day tournament runs Oct. 25-27 at the Stanford Golf Course. The tournament will consist of 18-holes each day with teams teeing off beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday and Saturday from the first and 10th tees. Sunday will be a shotgun start (8 a.m.).

The three-round tournament features 18 teams and consists of host-Stanford, Colorado, Colorado State, Duke, Florida Southern, Georgia Tech, Hawaii-Hilo, Idaho, Kansas, Miami-Ohio, Missouri, Northwestern, Notre Dame, North Carolina State, Oregon State, Texas Tech, Toledo and Washington.

Washington won the event last year, turning in a 13-under par 839 for the tournament. North Carolina State's Justin Walter carded a seven-under par 206 (70-68-68) to win top medalist honors.

The Huskies are ranked 38th this week in the GolfWeek Sagarin Performance Index.
