Swimming heads to UOP Invitational

COUGARS AT PACIFIC INVITATIONAL: The Washington State University women's swim team competes in the Pacific Invitational at Stockton, Calif., Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25 and 26...teams participating in the invite include: Washington State, host Pacific, Brigham Young, Fresno State, and California.
'This weekend's meet will be a great chance to see some of the California schools,' WSU Head Coach Erica Quam said. 'We will face faster competition and I expect us to be very competitive at the meet.'
LAST WEEK: WSU has a 1-0 record after defeating San Jose State 140-112 in its season opener October 19... several Cougar swimmers made an impact for the team...co-captain, Lindsay Henahan and freshman Jane Copland led the team with two individual victories and a relay win for each.
Henahan, a senior from Rochester, N.Y. swam well, claiming victory in the 200 butterfly, with a personal best time of 2:05.21...as well as the 100 freestyle in 53.39.
Copland, a native of Wellington, New Zealand captured first place in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:18.08 moving her into second on the WSU all-time top ten list...she also placed first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.01.
COACH QUAM: Erica Quam has a record of 1-0 with the WSU women's swim team in her first year as head coach...Quam spent the past five years as an assistant at Southern Methodist University.
NEXT COMPETITION: Washington State competes next against in against Cal-State Northridge Friday and Saturday Nov. 8-9 in Pullman.
