Men's Tennis Team Heads to ITA Regional Championships

MORAGA, Calif. - The Oregon men's tennis team will take part in the Omni Hotels ITA Regional Championships at St. Mary's College, with the tournament beginning Saturday and ending Tuesday. All 10 Ducks will travel to compete in Oregon's first tournament in which the entire team will participate in at the same time.

'It's a strong field and the guys are all looking to get back out there,' Oregon head coach Chris Russell said. 'They're all eager to prove something.'

Preseason No. 63 Manuel Kost will be the highest-seeded Duck in the singles draw, earning the No. 7 seed. Senior Oded Teig will play as one of the No. 9-16 seeds, while sophomore Sven Swinnen will be one of the No. 17-24 seeds. Joining Kost, Teig and Swinnen in singles play will be Thomas Bieri, Kyle Halberg, Junaid Hossain, Chris King, Jason Menke, Arron Spencer and Andrew Walker.

In doubles play, Swinnen and Teig will be the No. 10 seed, while four other tandems will compete for the Ducks. Menke will team with Spencer, Bieri will play with Kost, Halberg will be with King and Hossain and Walker round out the Oregon pairs. In all, 64 teams will compete in the tournament.
