The University of California women's swimming team won the Pacific Invitational Saturday in Stockton, Calif., while the men's team finished second in its division.

Several Golden Bears won events on Saturday, including the men's and women's 200-yard freestyle and 400 medley relay teams. The women won its 200 free relay in 1:38.24, while the men finished first in its 200 free relay in 1:22.35. The women won its 400 medley relay in 3:57.61, while the men won the event on its side in 3:20.93.

Freshman Cheryl Anne Bingaman won the 50 free (24.19) and fellow freshman Whitney Rockwell was runner-up with a time of 24.32. Sophomore Lauren Medina won the 500 free (5:01.46) and sophomore Lisa Morelli won the 1650 free (17:03.25). Sophomore Amy Ng won the 200 individual medley (2:07.14)

The Bears won several events Saturday to help them to their runner-up finish. Cal swimmers, sophomore Duje Draganja and freshmen Mike Cavic and Jens Thiele put together a 1-2-3 finish in the 50-yard freestyle, with Draganja winning the race with a time of 20.24. Cavic finished second in 20.87 and Thiele third in 21.05.

Freshmen Miguel Molina and Ryan Lean and sophomore John Dorr also notched a sweep of the first through third places in the 500 free. Molina won the race (4:32.38), while Lean finished second (4:32.71) and Dorr came in third (4:33.41). Junior Alex Lim won the 200 IM (1:51.52).

The women's team is next in action at Georgia Nov. 1, while the men's team next swims at the Texas Invitational Dec. 5-7.
