Men's Crew Rows Tough Race With Washington

PORTLAND, Ore. - -

The Oregon State men's crew rowed to a time of 20 minutes, 56.94 seconds in the championship eight on Saturday, finishing 42 seconds behind Washington in a head race at the Portland Lake Oswego/Oaks Park course.

The varsity eight, which finished fourth at last year's IRA national championships, was second in the two-boat race to Washington's time of 20:14.24.

In the collegiate eight race, Washington's junior varsity crew rowed 20:35.74 to top OSU's JV eight, which finished in 21:52.75.

The OSU alumni boat was third in the collegiate eight with a time of 22:48.81. Portland finished roughly one minute back, followed by Oregon, Portland State, and Portland's second boat.

Both the men's and women's crews row Sunday, Nov. 10 at Washington's Head of the Lake Regatta in Seattle. Racing begins at 8 a.m.
