Tabs Williams One of Nation's Top Five Point Guards

Nov. 4, 2002

EUGENE, Ore. - The games haven't yet begun, but tabbed University of Oregon senior Shaquala Williams as one of the top five point guards in the nation.

Joining Williams on the list is Temeka Johnson (LSU), Ashley McElhiney (Vanderbilt), Amy Waugh (Xavier) and Lindsey Wilson (Iowa State). Williams is the lone player from the West among the five.

'She's very dynamic and hard to gaurd,' EPSN analyst Nancy Lieberman said about Williams. 'She can handle the ball and score, and has stretched her game.'

Williams, a three-time All-Pac-10 selection and two-time All-American, averaged 16.3 points and 3.9 assists for Oregon last season.

The Ducks play the first of two exhibitions Saturday against Horsholm BBC at 5 p.m. at McArthur Court.
