Bruin Women's Cross Country No. 23

In this week's FinishLynx NCAA Division I women's cross country poll, the Bruins are ranked No. 23 in the nation. Brigham Young continues its No. 1 ranking, followed by No. 2 Stanford and No. 3 Colorado. The Bruins will be off this week in preparation for the NCAA West Regionals, held Saturday, November 16, in Palo Alto, CA.
Last weekend, the Bruins placed fourth at the Pac-10 Championships with 86 points. Stanford won its seventh consecutive Pac-10 title and was followed by Arizona State in second place and Washington in third. The top Bruin finisher was junior Lena Nilsson, who placed third and set a new school record of 20:01 (6,000m course). Sophomore Alejandra Barrientos was the second highest Bruin finisher, placing ninth in 21:11.
The Bruin men placed eighth with 183 points and were led by sophomore Erik Emilsson (24th, 24:47).
