OSU Sets Wrestling Intrasquad Meet

Nov. 6, 2002

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State will hold its annual wrestling Intrasquad Meet on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Gill Coliseum. The Beavers' top two contenders at each weight will wrestle a best-of-three series of matches to determine OSU's starting lineup.

Oregon State has eight wrestlers in the preseason Pacific-10 rankings, which rate the top six at each weight class. Senior 141-pounder Casey Horn and senior 197-pounder Jason Lovell are ranked second at their weights; junior 165-pounder Jed Pennell and senior heavyweight Andy Bowlby are ranked fourth; and senior 125-pounder Michael Delaney, sophomore 149-pounder Jordan Barich, senior 174-pounder Jake Huffman and freshman 184-pounder Dan Pitsch are ranked fifth.Horn is unlikely to wrestle this year as he recovers from knee and elbow injuries suffered last season; he will petition the NCAA for an additional year of eligibility.

OSU begins the regular season Nov. 23 at the Southern Oregon Open; the Beavers' home-opener will be Dec. 14 against Nebraska.
