Logan Tom Has 26 Kills In 3-0 Win Over No. 16 Arizona

Stanford, Calif. - Senior outside hitter Logan Tom tallied a match-high 26 kills as the No. 4 Stanford women's volleyball team swept No. 16 Arizona, 3-0, tonight in Maples Pavilion. Game scores were 34-32, 30-26, 30-19.
The Cardinal improve to 22-3 overall, 12-2 in the Pac-10 while the Wildcats drop to 12-9, 7-6 in league play.
Game one remained close between the two teams with Arizona leading 15-12 at the media timeout. With the game tied at 24-all, Stanford rallied off three quick points to take the 27-24 advantage. But Arizona came back to tie the game again at 28-all. Stanford would win the game, 34-32 on a Logan Tom kill on the fourth game point.
Game three started much like game one with the Stanford leading 15-14 at the media timeout on an Ogonna Nnamani kill. The two squads traded points, until a Cardinal run put Stanford up by three points at 20-17. Arizona came back to knot the game at 22-all on a Kim Glass kill. With the game tied 23-23, the Cardinal went on a four point run to go up 27-23 on an Nnamani kill. Another Nnamani kill put Stanford at game point at 29-24. The Cardinal won game two, 30-26, on a Sara McGee kill.
Stanford jumped out early in game three and never looked back, taking a 15-8 lead on a Logan Tom kill. The Cardinal went up by seven points at 19-12 on a Wildcat service error and led 25-16 on another Tom kill. Stanford reached game and match point on an Arizona hitting error at 29-18. Another Wildcat service error gave the Cardinal the 30-19 victory.
For Stanford, Ogonna Nnamani added 11 kills while hitting .308 and Jennifer Harvey led the match with eight blocks on the night. Sara McGee had eight kills and four blocks for the Cardinal. Ashley Ivy led the team with a match-high 11 digs. Setter Anna Robinson chipped in 45 assists and eight digs.
The Wildcats were led by Lisa Rutledge's 16 kills and 11 digs.
Stanford is next in action tomorrow night against No.23 Arizona State at 7 p.m. in Maples Pavilion.
