Three Bears Travel to ASU Thunderbirds Invitational

Tempe, Ariz. - Three members of the California women's tennis team will participate in the annual Thunderbirds Collegiate Tennis Invitational, Friday, Nov. 8 through Sunday, November 10 at the Whiteman Tennis Center at Arizona State University. Juniors Jieun Jacobs and Jody Scheldt as well as sophomore Brooke Borisoff will participate in singles competition, while the pair of Jacobs and Scheldt will compete in doubles.

Jacobs, the tournament's No. 4 seed faces Andrea Cooper of Kansas State, Friday, Nov. 8 at 2:00 p.m. (MST), in first round action. Scheldt will square off against Duke's Hilary Adams at 2:00 p.m. and Borisoff opposes Petra Sedlmajerova of Kansas State at 12:30 p.m. In doubles action, the No. 2 seed of Jacobs/Scheldt will play Kendall Brooks and Tara Browning out of Texas Tech at 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning.

The tournament will showcase some of the most competitive and highly ranked women's singles and doubles players from around the country. Participating schools include Arizona State, California, Duke, Kansas State, Northern Arizona, San Diego, Texas Tech and UNLV.

The format features a main draw of 32 singles players with consolation play for first-round losers, as well as a doubles main draw consisting of 16 teams. The singles main draw will start at 9:30 a.m. on all three days. Prior to the singles, doubles will begin at 8:30 a.m.
