Women's Golfers End Fall Play at Las Vegas Showdown

Seattle - The Washington women's golf team will play its final tournament of the fall when the Huskies participate in the Las Vegas Founders Collegiate Showdown Nov. 11-13. The 54-hole tournament will be held at the par 72, 6,194-yard Anthem Country Club. The event is the first-ever women's collegiate golf event in Las Vegas. It is hosted by UNLV.

The field for the event includes BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Eastern Washington, Hawaii, New Mexico, Oregon, Pepperdine, San Diego State, San Jose State, Texas A&M, Washington and Wyoming.

The Huskies enter the event ranked seventh in the Nov. 4 GolfWeek poll. Washington has finished as the runner-up in two fall tournament and placed third in one event. The Huskies are led by sophomore Paige Mackenzie, who sports a stroke average of 73.8. She is ranked 26th in GolfWeek's individual standings, Louise Friberg, ranked 29th, is just behind Mackenzie at 73.9.
