Buddy Teevens Press Conference Quotes
Nov. 12, 2002
'I'm looking forward to Oregon State, the last home game, I think it has a lot of meaning for our seniors. Guys continue to push, continue to play, and that's the mindset that we are carrying into the Oregon State weekend. The big thing that jumps out is their team speed right across the board, probably the fastest defensive group we've faced. Kyle Matter will continue to line up at the quarterback position. Julian Jenkins broke his arm, we didn't find out until late Saturday, and he will unfortunately probably be out for the season. Big thing is mindset and preparation, I didn't see anything different than I've seen all season long, the commitment to what we are doing, and I expect to see that right through the remainder of the season. It's a special game, the last home game for our seniors and they want to go out on a positive note.'
On Injuries of Lewis and Jenkins:
'Chris Lewis is probable or possible to play. Jenkins played with it (broken arm) through the late third, fourth quarter. It was not a displaced situation, just required a cast. He didn't say much about it, kind of a stoic individual, he just went out and kept doing his job. The game is very, very important to him, he takes great pride in his performance, and didn't want to come out. He mentioned it after the ballgame.'
On Kenneth Tolon:
'He rolled his ankle up, didn't practice yesterday, pretty much by design. I would anticipate he would be ready to play and we'll find out a little more today and expect him to practice somewhat lightly this afternoon.'
On the Running Game:
'I think the biggest thing is the pressure package they applied. They got up a bit at the end of the half, and you can take a few more chances, risk a little bit more, which they had not really shown in the first half. They had eight or nine guys at the line of scrimmage and the way the game was going, they felt comfortable really pushing, taking some chances outside, going one on one loading up on the inside. So it wasn't anything we had done particularly different, they added some extra people inside. From a pass standpoint, we do what we do, we have not had great success throwing the ball down the field or in one on one situations.'
