OSU's Alan Gordon Named Men's Soccer Player of Week

Nov. 12, 2002

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- OREGON STATE junior forward Alan Gordon has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Nov. 4-10, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Gordon, from Gilbert, Ariz., recorded a hat trick, including the game-winning goal, in Oregon State's 6-3 win over Washington on Nov. 10. The win marked the Beavers' second straight over the Huskies, the second this season and is just the second in the 19-game all-time series with UW. With the victory, OSU equaled its highest win total (12) in school history, while the six goals are the most ever by the Beavers in a Pac-10 game. The Conference began sponsoring men's soccer in 2000. Gordon leads the Conference in scoring with 32 points (14 goals, 4 assists) and has nine more points than any other Pac-10 player.

Oregon State is 12-6-0 overall, 3-5-0 in Pac-10 play, and sits in fourth place in the Conference entering the final week of regular season action. The Beavers host Stanford on Friday and California on Sunday. Both games begin at 1 p.m. PST.

This is the second weekly honor for Gordon, his second this season and the fifth all-time Player of the Week honor for Oregon State.
