Women's Basketball Combines With GAME FACE For Free Clinic

Nov. 12, 2002

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State University's women's basketball head coach Judy Spoelstra will be conducting a free clinic on Saturday, Nov. 16, associated with the GAME FACE program.

GAME FACE is a program designed to teach young women to value themselves and make good choices not only in sports, but in life. The educational outreach helps youths to find a balance between elite achievement in sports and playing for the simple joy of participation.

In association with MassMutual Financial Group, Spoelstra and other members of the OSU women's basketball coaching staff as well as current athletes will be on hand to teach the GAME FACE system.

'This is a great opportunity for young girls to find out more about the value of participation, self esteem and overall awareness,' said Spoelstra. 'It's a good way for us to use our athletes as a tool to get more girls to participate in sports.'

Young women ages 10-17 can attend the free clinic which runs from 9-11 a.m. on the third floor of the OSU Valley Football Center.

Former honorable mention All-American and current member of the WNBA's Seattle Storm, Felicia Ragland, will also be participating in the GAME FACE clinic. Ragland will be available to sign autographs after Wednesday's exhibition game against Team Concept. GAME FACE registration can be made at the exhibition contest.
