Kline Earns Preseason Honor

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State senior righthander Ty Kline (West Linn, Ore./Sunset HS, Central Arizona JC, Mt. Hood CC) has earned preseason All-America honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Kline was named to the third team; last season, he had a 6-1 record for the Beavers with two saves and a 3.68 earned run average.

In 2002, Kline was the co-winner of the Bill Cloyes Award as OSU's Most Valuable Pitcher and earned All-Pacific-10 honorable mention. In 51 1/3 innings, he allowed just 49 hits while walking 14 and striking out 29.

Among the Pac-10 leaders through the end of the regular season, Kline was tied for sixth in appearances (26). He allowed one or fewer earned runs in 22 of 26 appearances, one or fewer walk in 22 of 26 appearances and he allowed only 16 of 33 inherited runners to score.
