Johnson Earns All-District VII Academic Honor

EUGENE, Ore. - Arizona senior quarterback Jason Johnson today earnedfirst-team Verizon Academic All-District VIII Football honors.

Johnson, of Puyallup, Wash., graduated last May with a 3.79 cumulativegrade average in business management, and is a current graduate student inreligious studies.

The District honor was his second consecutive, as he was named to thesecond-team All-Academic list a year ago. He also earned first-teamAcademic All-Pac-10 honors last season.

Johnson became Arizona's single-season passing yardage leader with 2,566yards in the Wildcats' game last week against UCLA. He's within threecompletions of a record 194 in a season. He enters UA's game at Californiathis week rating No. 23 in the nation with 19 completions per game.

As the District VII academic quarterback selection, Johnson is eligible forVerizon Academic All-America honors to be voted on by the nation's sportsinformation directors in coming weeks.
