Nov. 14, 2002

SEATTLE, Wash. -Washington men's tennis signed Canadian standout Daniel Chu (Vancouver, B.C.) to a national letter of intent, head coach Matt Anger announced Thursday. Chu will join the Huskies in the fall of 2003.

Chu comes to Seattle from Magee High School in Vancouver, B.C. He was the Canadian National Junior doubles champion and junior singles semifinalist. Chu is a member of the top-ranked junior doubles team in Canada and is also ranked No. 3 in singles. He chose Washington over Georgia Tech, Notre Dame and Northwestern.

'We're thrilled that Daniel will be joining our team,' Anger said. 'I expect him to have an immediate impact in both singles and doubles. He is going to start out at a high level of play, but at the same time continue to improve. Daniel is also very smart in the classroom and is a well-rounded student-athlete. It's a win-win situation for us in every category.'
