Stanford Signs James Wan To National Letter-Of-Intent

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford University Men's Tennis program announced on Thursday that it has signed James Wan (Woodbury, NY) to a National Letter-of-Intent beginning with the 2003-04 school year.

In 2001, Wan was the U.S. National Boys 16 Singles Champion. He also finished 2001 ranked No. 2 in the nation in his age group.

'James is an outstanding tennis player,' Stanford Director of Men's Tennis Dick Gould said. 'We are delighted to have a person with his abilities and character join our program.'

Gould has guided Stanford to 17 NCAA Men's Tennis Team Championships, including five in the last eight years. Stanford has also produced 13 NCAA Singles and 13 NCAA Doubles champions in program history.
