UW Adds Indiana to 2003 and 2007 Football Schedules

Nov. 14, 2002

Seattle - Washington athletic director Barbara Hedges announced today that Indiana has been added to the Huskies' football schedule for the 2003 season. The Huskies and Hoosiers will meet Sept. 13 at Husky Stadium. The two teams will play again on Sept. 1, 2007 at Indiana.

The Hoosiers replace Navy, which requested to be dropped from Washington's 2003 schedule. Indiana takes the place of San Diego State on the Huskies' 2007 slate. The Aztecs dropped games with Washington during the 2006 and 2007 seasons as part of a new scheduling philosophy.

The meeting between the Hoosiers and Huskies will mark the third time the teams have played. Indiana defeated Washington 20-13 at Husky Stadium in 1976 and 14-7 in 1978 in Bloomington.

The addition of Indiana to the 2003 schedule means the Huskies will open with back-to-back games against Big Ten opponents. Washington kicks off the season on Aug. 30 at Ohio State and has a bye on Sept. 6 before meeting the Hoosiers.
