Tipoff Slated For 6:15 PM On Monday As Cardinal Open 2002-03 Season
Nov. 15, 2002
Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford men's basketball team will tipoff the opening of the 2002-03 season when the Cardinal hosts Boston University in the first round of the Owens Corning NIT on Monday, November 18.
Tipoff is slated for 6:15 p.m., and will be televised on ESPN2 with Bob Carpenter and Jimmy Dykes handling the broadcast chores.
The Cardinal will return ten lettermen from a team that chalked up a 20-10 record overall, a second place finish in the Pac-10, and an eighth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Boston University returns its top eight scorers from a team that produced its fifth America East Championship and sixth NCAA Tournament appearance. The Terriers return 91 percent of its offense, and 84 percent of its rebounding total from last year.
In past years, Stanford basketball games have been soldout. This year, however, Cardinal men's basketball game tickets will now be available on the internet for selected games as part of the 'Ticket Tuesdays' Program.
The following men's basketball games currently have single game ticket availability: November 18 vs Boston University (Owens Corning NIT); and November 24 vs Rice. If Stanford wins the November 18 game vs Boston University, single game tickets for the November 20 game (Owens Corning NIT - second round), against either Xavier or St. Peter's, will go on sale November 19 at 8:00 a.m. Pacific time.
Prices for the single game tickets will be $25 dollars each (upper reserved, section 6 seating only) and can be bought online or through the Stanford athletic ticket office at 1-800-STANFORD.
Check the Stanford athletic ticket website each Tuesday to see which men's basketball games have single game ticket availability.
