Arizona State Defeats Oregon Volleyball, 3-1

TEMPE, Ariz.

- The Arizona State volleyball team dropped the first game of the match, but rallied to win three straight to defeat Oregon, 28-30, 30-23, 30-17, 30-27, in front of 1,180 fans at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe, Ariz. Saturday's match marked Arizona State's home finale and improved the SunDevils to 12-9 overall, 8-8 Pacific-10 Conference while Oregon fell to 11-19, 1-15 this year.

Oregon freshman Dariam Acevedo finished the match with her ninth double double of the season (18 kills, 11 digs) and led the Ducks with 20.5 points. Acevedo also had two service aces in the match.

Arizona State was led by Juliana Escobar's match-high 23 kills and 15 digs. Three other Sun Devils had 10 or more kills and as a team they out-killed Oregon 66-48.

The Ducks had an opportunity to take a 2-0 lead in the match when they went ahead 22-19 in the second game, but Arizona State used an 11-1 rally to even the match at one game apiece heading into the third game.

Senior middle blocker Lindsay Closs added 13 kills for Oregon while freshman Kelly Russell and sophomore Lauren Westendorf had seven kills each. Defensively, the Ducks had strong performances from libero Lindsay Murphy (12 digs) and setter Jodi Bell (11 digs).
