Cougars Add California Big Man

Nov. 18, 2002

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Justin Garcia from San Bernardino Valley Community College signed with Washington State University men's basketball, Cougar Head Coach Paul Graham announced Monday.

'Justin is a 7-foot-1 center who played one year of Division I basketball at Northern Arizona,' Graham said. 'He is a very good defensive player. We feel he can come into our program next year and be a good addition to our interior. He can run and block shots very well and will help solidify our front line.'

The Mira Loma, Calif., native signed with Northern Arizona out of Mira Loma High School. Garcia redshirted during the 2000-01 season before appearing in seven games last season with the Lumberjacks.

'Justin played 30 games during our summer league and two showcase tournaments,' San Bernardino Valley Head Coach John Smith said. 'He has improved so much from the time he first went to Northern Arizona. He has really worked on his game and developed a nice jump hook the he made consistently during the summer.'
