Husky Gymnastics Team Signs Northwest Duo

Seattle - Washington women's gymnastics coach Bob Levesque announced today that two standout gymnasts from the Northwest have signed national letters of intent with Washington and will enroll at the University next fall. The Huskies two incoming freshmen are Nicole Waiss of Mill Creek and Darcee Schiller of Abbotsford, British Columbia.

Waiss is a member of Cascade Elite Gymastics in Mountlake Terrace where she is coached by Wayne Kerr and Frank Lee. She won the Level 10 National Championship in bars last year, took fifth place in vault and was fourth in the all-around at the same meet. Waiss attends Jackson High School in Mill Creek.

Schiller is a member of the Twisters Gymnastics Club in Abbotsford under the direction of David Kenwright. First-year Husky assistant coach Heidi Coleman was also one of her club level coaches. She competes for the same club team as current Husky Carly Dockendorf. Schiller placed fourth in the all-around at the 2001 Canadian Championships and won the Alberta Championships in 2001. This year she won all four events and the all-around at the British Columbia Trials to the Western Canadian Championships. Schiller attends Robert Bateman Secondary school in Abbotsford.
