WSU Swimming To Take On Cross-State Rival

PULLMAN, Wash. - - No. 22 WASHINGTON AT WASHINGTON STATE: The Washington State University women's swim team meet the University of Washington for the 26th time...the Cougars have a record of 2-22-1 against the Huskies...WSU is going for its third consecutive victory against UW after winning in 2000 and 2001...the two teams will face off in a dual meet on Friday Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. at Gibb Pool.
The Huskies (7-0) come into the meet against the Cougars with their first ranking in the College Swim Coaches Association of America top 25 poll at No. 22...in its last meet, UW defeated the Southern California All-Stars, 148-115.
'Every time we swim the Huskies we want to get up and give it our best shot,' WSU Head Coach Erica Quam said. 'We approach this meet as a stepping-stone for the rest of the season.'
LAST WEEK: WSU has a 3-0 record in dual meets...Washington State defeated Central Washington University 141-61 last Saturday...marking the 10th consecutive win over the Wildcats for the Cougars.
WSU placed first in 10 of the 11 events, falling to second in the first event, the 400 medley relay...the Cougars had eight different swimmers finish first in their individual events.
Freshman Lesley Ouellette had a career day for WSU with two individual victories and one second place...she recorded personal best times in her first place finishes in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke with times of 54.07 and 1:07.24, respectively.
COACH QUAM: Erica Quam has a dual meet record of 3-0 with the WSU women's swim team in her first year as head coach...Quam spent the past five years as an assistant at Southern Methodist University.
NEXT WEEK: Washington State has a week off before competing in the Speedo Cup Invitational in Los Angeles, Calif., Dec. 5-7.
