Men's Tennis Inks Local Standout Chris Floyd

Nov. 21, 2002

SEATTLE, Wash. - Washington men's tennis signed its second high school senior to a national letter of intent, head coach Matt Anger announced Monday. Chris Floyd (Mercer Island, Wash) will join the Huskies in the fall of 2003.

Floyd is currently the No. 1 singles player in the state of Washington according to the United States Tennis Association Junior Rankings. A product of Mercer Island High School, Floyd advanced as far as the Round of 64 at the U.S. Nationals held last August in Kalamazoo, Mich. He selected Washington over the University of Florida.

'I'm really excited about Chris coming to Washington,' Anger said. 'There isn't always a lot of depth of talent locally, and Chris being a top player in the state is one we wanted to get. Over the next few years, he's going to have a super career as a Husky.'
