Troy Takes Down Sun Devils, 174-125

Seniors Asa Sandlund and Michala Kwasny each won twice to lead USC to a 174-125 dual-meet win over Arizona State on Saturday (Nov. 23) at USC's McDonald's Swim Stadium.

USC improved to 2-1 on the season.

Sandlund posted wins in the 1000y free (9:52.08) and the 500y free (4:51.31). Kwasny, meanwhile, won the 200y free (1:50.66) and the 400y IM (4:15.22), both in NCAA 'B' cut times.

Sophomore Kaitlin Sandeno won the 200y fly (1:57.81) in an NCAA 'A' cut time.

Freshman Kammy Miller didn't win a race, but still swam a pair of excellent races. She took second in both the 100y breast (1:02.64) and the 200y breast (2:13.94), the former a 'B' cut and the latter an 'A' cut.

Freshman Margie Pedder won the 100y fly in 56.88 and was second in the 200y fly in 1:58.87, an NCAA 'A' standard time.

Sophomore Marisa Kozak won the 100y back in 57.65. USC finished 1-2-3 in the race as freshman Stacy Vazhenin (58.16) and sophomore Joanna Fargus (58.63) were second and third, respectively. Fargus also won the 200y back in 2:03.26.

Senior Asa Sandlund was second in both distance free events, going 4:54.42 in the 500y free and 9:59.71 in the 1000y free.

USC's 400y free relay of Sandeno, freshman Joy Galloway, Pedder and Kwasny won in 3:27.13.
