Nov. 25, 2002
Walnut Creek, Calif. - Stanford middle blocker Sara McGee has been named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Nov. 17-Nov. 23, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
McGee, a junior from Davis, Calif., put down 19 kills and eight blocks while hitting .643 (4.0 kills per game) as the Cardinal finished up their Pac-10 Conference season with a 3-2 win at California. Her 19 kills is one shy of her career high, which she set earlier this season against Utah. McGee currently leads the Conference and the team with her .426 hitting percentage, and is second (in the Pac-10 and on her team) in blocks, averaging 1.39 per game.
No.4-ranked Stanford (26-4, 15-3 in Pac-10) defeated California in Berkeley, 3-2 this weekend.
This is the first weekly honor for McGee, Stanford's 48th Player of the Week honor all-time.
