Cougars Fall Short at TCU

Nov. 30, 2002

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Corey Santee scored a game-high 23 points to lead TCU to an 86-83 win over Washington State in non-conference men's basketball, Saturday.

TCU (2-1) sealed a wild finish on a Junior Blount layup with six tenths of a second left to account for the final margin.

The Cougars (2-1) trailed 82-78 when Thomas Kelati drilled a three-pointer to cut the Horned Frogs lead to 82-81 with 34.3 seconds left.

Blount converted two free throws before WSU's Justin Bellegarde scored off an offensive rebound to make the score 84-83 with 8.1 seconds left.

On the ensuing in-bound pass, Bellegarde came up with a loose ball in the backcourt, but was tied up by a TCU player before he could call timeout. The possession arrow favored the Horned Frogs and they were able to get the ball to Blount who iced the game.

Marcus Moore led Washington State with 21 points and is averaging 28.0 points this season. Milton Riley recorded his second career double-double with 12 points and a career-high 12 rebounds.

Shami Gill added a career-high 10 rebounds for the Cougars. Washington State held a 50-34 advantage over TCU on the boards.

The game featured 21 lead changes and nine ties.

The Cougars play at Idaho, Wednesday at 7 p.m.
