Volleyball Falls to #24 Utah

TUCSON, Ariz.- The No.12 Arizona volleyball team closed out its regular season with a 30-20, 29-31, 18-30, 17-30 loss to 24th-ranked Utah in Salt Lake City on Saturday. The loss dropped the Wildcats to 17-11 overall for the season. Utah finished its regular season 25-8 overall and snapped a four-match losing streak to the Wildcats with the victory.
The Utes proved to be too much for Arizona to overcome as they hit .385 on the night with 57 kills and just 10 errors. The Wildcats struggled to a .159 team hitting percentage, committing 33 errors against 59 kills in the match. Utah out-dug the Wildcats 55 to 48 and out-blocked them 13.5 to 9.
Individually, All-American candidate Kim Glass led Arizona with a match-high 17 kills and 15 digs. Seniors Lisa Rutledge and Shannon Torregrosa chipped in with 13 and 10 kills, respectively, in their final regular season match in an Arizona uniform. Utah's Kim Turner paced the Ute attack with 14 kills on .367 hitting.
Arizona will find out its postseason schedule tomorrow at 7 p.m. when the NCAA will announce the seedings for the 2002 championship tournament. The selection show can be seen live on ESPNEWS at 7 p.m. MST.
