Women's Volleyball Will Open NCAA Play in Malibu

The UCLA women's volleyball team will open NCAA Tournament play on Thursday, December 5, at 5 pm in Malibu, CA, against Long Beach State. The winner of the match between the Bruins and 49ers will advance to play the winner of the 7 pm match between host Pepperdine and Cal Poly. Matches will be played at Pepperdine's Firestone Fieldhouse.

UCLA (19-13) has reached the NCAA Regional Final match in each of the past three seasons, and was eliminated from the 2001 NCAA Tournament by Long Beach State at The Pyramid in Long Beach. This is UCLA's 21st NCAA Tournament appearance, and the Bruins have won three NCAA Championships (1984, 1990, 1991), all under current head coach Andy Banachowski.
