Cougars Clipped By Idaho, 62-58

MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) - Tyrone Hayes had game-highs of 23 points, 10 reboundsand four blocks as Idaho beat Washington State 62-58 Wednesday night andsnapped a five-game losing streak against the Cougars.

Idaho (3-1) avenged last year's 81-55 loss at WSU (2-2) by shutting down thenation's third-leading scorer, Marcus Moore, who entered the game averaging 28points per game but was held to two points on 1-for-11 shooting. Despite givingup seven inches, Vandal sophomore Tanoris Shepard was able to hold Moore incheck.

Moore guarded Hayes in the first half and was out of rhythm on the offensiveend. Moore, who guarded Justin Logan in the second, still forced several shotsand missed others wide-open.

WSU's last lead was 46-44 as Idaho had field goals on four straightpossessions - including three 3-pointers - to take a nine-point lead with4:50 remaining.

The Cougars cut the deficit to two points with 2:09 to go but that was asclose as they would get.

At 61-58 with five seconds left, Shepard sank two free throws to seal thewin.

Justin Lyman had a career-high 19 points to lead the Cougars. Moore had ateam-leading 10 rebounds.
