Dec. 9, 2002
SEATTLE, Wash. - Washington sophomore midfielder C.J. Klaas was named to the 2002 NSCAA All-Far West Second-Team, as voted upon by the men's soccer coaches in region.
Klaas, last year's Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and a Soccer America All-Freshman Team selection, earned his first career nod on the all-region squad. A team co-captain, he was also a Pac-10 All-Conference first-team honoree for his accomplishments during the 2002 season.
Klaas recorded a team-high four assists to go along with one goal during the Huskies' 2002 campaign. His one goal of the season was the game-winner in sudden death overtime to lift Washington over third-ranked UCLA 2-1 on Nov. 1 in Westwood.
Klaas missed the last two weeks of the regular season, competing with the United State Under-20 Men's National team in its CONCACAF world qualifying tournament in Charleston, S.C.
Washington finished the 2002 season with an overall record of 6-10-3 and a Pac-10 record of 3-7.
