Chrissie Zartman Named First-Team AVCA All-Region

Dec. 11, 2002

UCLA sophomore libero Chrissie Zartman was named to the 2002 AVCA All-Pacific Region First Team, it was announced today. Zartman is the only libero among the 12 Pacific Region honorees. Nationwide, only three liberos were selected to the eight AVCA All-Region first teams. Zartman, along with all of the other AVCA Division I Region First-Team honorees will now be considered for AVCA All-America honors.

Zartman took full advantage of the libero position in its first year of existence at the NCAA Division I level, leading the Bruins with a school record 535 digs on the season. Her 4.53 digs per-game average leads the Pac-10 conference. She was also named first-team All-Pac-10 this season.

UCLA reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and concluded the season with a 20-14 record (9-9 Pac-10, tied for 5th).
