Softball Inks Two Players For Class Of 2007

SEATTLE. -- The Washington softball team signed two recruits to the class of 2007, including California natives Dominique Lastrapes out of Laguna Hills and Robyn Wike out of Newbury Park.
Lastrapes, a second baseman, joins the Husky program after a sensational career with Laguna Hills high school and the Bat Busters national championship summer team. For LHHS, Lastrapes was a three-time All-League selection, All-County pick and team Most Valuable Player. Under the tutelage of head coach Cary Crouch, Lastrapes won the southern California batting title with a .568 clip and was a first team All-Southern California selection as a senior.
As a member of the Bat Busters alongside current Husky freshman Dena Tyson, Lastrapes captured the 2002 national championship after placing fifth in 2001 and second in 2000. She also earned first team All-America honors in 2001.
Wike, a catcher, joins Washington after a phenomenal high school career at Newbury Park under head coach Lynn Baum. Wike earned numerous awards during her career including league Defensive Player of the Year, first team All-League and second team All-County. She was also the goalie for her high school soccer team and kicker for the football team.
Wike was also a member of the Worth Firecrackers Gold team and was a teammate of current Husky freshman Aimee Minor.
