Jason Gardner Named Pac-10 Player of the Week

TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona men's basketball player Jason Gardner was named the Pacific-10 Conference Menï¿½s Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 8 -15, the league announced on Monday.
Gardner, a 5-foot-10 senior guard from Indianapolis, Ind., led Arizona to a 73-70 win over No. 8 Texas with 13 points, a career-high eight rebounds and seven assists. He scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half, including six in the final two minutes. The seven assists were a season high and were measured against just one turnover in 37 minutes. Gardner hit two jumpers in the final two minutes that broke a 65-65 tie and give Arizona the lead for good. He was 4-of-8 from the floor after the break and grabbed six of his eight rebounds.
On the year, Gardner is averaging a team-leading 14.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.
It is the second weekly award for Gardner, the 56th all-time honor for the Wildcats.
Arizona is next in action on Saturday, Dec. 21, as the top-ranked Wildcats travel to Baton Rouge, La., to take on Louisiana State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST and can be seen on ESPN2.
