Notes from Around the Pac-10

ARIZONA - Since the start of the 1996-97 season, Lute Olson has led Arizona into games against 35 opponents ranked in the nation's top 10 at the time of the contest. In that span, Olson has a 24-11 (.686) record, including a 7-1 (.875) mark at McKale Center, 4-2 (.667) in road games, and 13-8 (.619) in neutral-site games. That works out to nearly 20 percent of all UA games over the last seven years have been played against top-10 opponents. Perhaps more impressively, UA is 16-6 (.727) vs. top five teams in that span ... Arizona is 44-8 during senior guard Jason Gardner's career when he passes out at least five assists in a game.

ARIZONA STATE - Freshman forward Ike Diogu has been impressive in his first eight games, as he leads the team with 18.3 points per game and is averaging 30.4 minutes and 6.3 rebounds ... He already has been to the line 69 times and is shooting .739 percent from the charity stripe (51-of-69). He is averaging 8.6 free throw attempts per contest and is the only Sun Devil to reach double digits in scoring in all eight contests ... In his past two games, he is 17-of-18 (.944) from the free throw line and after starting the season 5-of-11 (.454), he is 46-of-58 (.793). With his 25-point game against Nevada on Dec. 10, he has three 20-point games.

CALIFORNIA - The Bears will host Grambling, Detroit-Mercy and Louisiana-Lafayette in the Golden Bear Classic this weekend. The Bears have won the championship game in six of nine previous Classics, including five of the last six ... Junior forward Conor Famulener, a former walk-on, earned his first career start for the Bears against UC Santa Barbara. He responded with two points and three rebounds ... The Bears are 31-of-58 (.534) from three-point range over the last three games.

OREGON - The Ducks are in the midst of playing three consecutive games against conference champions. They have already defeated Big 12 champ Kansas, then defeated WCC champ Pepperdine Saturday, and will meet USA champion Cincinnati Tuesday in the Jimmy V Classic ... The Ducks have won 20 straight at McArthur Court. The school record is 23, set from 1937-39 ... Coach Ernie Kent picked up his 100th victory as coach of the Ducks with the win over Pepperdine ... Senior forward Robert Johnson has posted back-to-back double-doubles in wins over Kansas (12 pts/10 rbs) and Pepperdine (19 pts/10 rbs).

OREGON STATE - With road wins at Portland and Sacramento State, the Beavers have posted back-to-back road victories over Division I opponents for the first time since 1990. Former OSU coach Jim Anderson, in his first season, took OSU to a pair of road wins at Tennessee (in OT), and at Gonzaga ... Senior forward Brian Jackson has scored in double figures in every game this season, equaling his longest double figures scoring streak of five (3 times). Jackson needs 39 points to reach 1,000 for his career.

STANFORD - So far this season, the Cardinal are the only team in the Pac-10 to stick with the same lineup in each game. Coach Mike Montgomery has used the starting lineup of Josh Childress, Justin Davis, Rob Little, Julius Barnes and Matt Lottich in all six contests this season.

UCLA - In the 105-67 win over Portland, UCLA had a season-high 61 rebounds and shot a season-high 56.3 from the field (36-64). The Bruins also held Portland to 25.0 shooting from the field (17-68), the lowest against the Bruins this season ... UCLA's last 100-point game was 105 vs. Cincinnati (2OT) last year in the NCAA Tournament. The last 100-point output for the Bruins in Pauley was Dec. 1, 1999 vs. Morgan State (100-39). The 38-point win margin was the largest since that Morgan State game (61) ... Sophomore forward Andre Patterson was declared eligible on Friday and played vs. Portland on Saturday (7 minutes, 3 points, 1 rebound, 2 blocks, 2 steals).

USC - In their last outing, a 78-63 win over Cal State Fullerton, Rory O'Neil and Robert Hutchinson combined to shoot 16-of-18 (.889) from the field, 5-of-5 on three-pointers. O'Neil scored 22 points and Hutchinson added 17 points. Both were career highs.

WASHINGTON - The Huskies are in the middle of a six-game homestand, the longest for the Huskies since playing six straight at home during the 1995-96 season ... The Huskies have been outscored at the free throw line by a 143-68 margin and have attempted 104 fewer free throws (208-104) ... Sophomore guard Will Conroy has scored in double figures in each of his last five games.

WASHINGTON STATE - Sophomore guard Thomas Kelati is shooting 20-of-37 (.541) from three-point range this season. During his freshman season, he made just 18 treys, connecting at a rate of 33.3 percent ... The Cougars are shooting .716 from the free throw line this season, third best in the Pac-10. The Cougars are 2-2 when they shoot 70 percent or better from the line this season, 1-2 when they fail to reach 70 percent at the charity stripe ... Junior guard Marcus Moore needs 105 points to reach 1,000 for his career.
