No. 23 Arizona Downs New Mexico, 70-61

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Freshman Shawntinice Polk had 26 points and 11 rebounds- her seventh double-double in as many games - to lead No. 23 Arizona to a70-61 victory over New Mexico on Wednesday night.

Aimee Grzyb had 13 points and Krista Warren added 12 for the Wildcats (5-2),who snapped New Mexico's eight-game winning streak.

Jordan Adams scored 17 points for the Lobos, and Mandi Moore had 16, sevenrebounds and seven assists. New Mexico (8-2) hadn't lost since its opener atSouthern California.

Polk was a key figure down the stretch for Arizona.

After Arizona's Natalie Jones was hit in the face on a screen and had toleave the game with 11:32 remaining, the Wildcats scored six straight points totake a 50-44 lead. The final basket was a short jumper by Polk.

Adams answered with a basket, but Polk made a layup before and after a3-pointer by Grzyb for a 55-46 lead with 7:54 to play.

Grzyb made another 3-pointer with 3:33 left, giving the Wildcats to a 64-54lead.
