No. 11 Ducks Overpower Highlanders

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Luke Ridnour had 24 points and Luke Jackson added 20 asNo. 11 Oregon beat overmatched UC Riverside 108-67 Saturday for its schoolrecord-tying 23rd straight home victory.

Robert Johnson added 12 points and 12 rebounds for Oregon (9-1), which opensPacific-10 play on Thursday night against No. 4 Arizona.

Nate Carter and Kevin Butler each had 14 points for UC Riverside (1-5),which dropped its third straight.

With 23 straight wins at historic McArthur Court, Oregon matched the schoolrecord set from Feb. 13, 1937, to Jan. 6, 1939. That team, dubbed the TallFirs, won the 1939 national title.

The Ducks' last loss at home was on Feb. 24, 2001, when they fell toSouthern California.

Oregon, simply too fast and too physical for the Highlanders, led by as manyas 43 points in the second half, and finished with five players in doublefigures.

Ridnour, who has reached double figures in all 10 Oregon games this season,scored 12 straight points for the Ducks early in the second half. He finishedwith eight assists.

When Jackson and Ridnour both score in double figures, the Ducks are 23-0.

Jake Wessel tied it at 11 for the Highlanders with 15:39 in the first halfbefore Oregon started to pull away.

Jackson punctuated a 16-6 run with a driving layup that put Oregon ahead27-17 midway through the half, and the Ducks cruised to a 48-27 lead at thehalf.

Oregon's lone loss this season was to unranked Cincinnati in the Jimmy VClassic on Dec. 17.
