OSU'S Carlyle, Roberts to Play In Hula Bowl

CORVALLIS- Oregon State senior defensive backs Calvin Carlyle and Terrell Roberts have been selected to play in the Hula Bowl All-Star Game on February 1, it was announced Thursday by the American Football Coaches Association.

The game will be played on Feb. 1 at War Memorial Stadium in Wailuku, Hawaii on the island of Maui. The game will be televised by ESPN2, starting at 6:00 p.m. PST.Carlyle played in 48 career games for Oregon State as a strong safety, including 32 starts during his career.

Roberts played 44 games, including 21 straight starts at left cornerback to end his career. Roberts tied with teammate Dennis Weathersby for seventh in the Pac-10 this year with 13 passes defended. Roberts was also named second-team All-Pac-10.

Three other senior members of the 2002 squad will be playing in the East-West Shrine Game this Saturday at Pac-Bell Park in San Francisco. The three include linebacker Nick Barnett, defensive tackle Eric Manning and Weathersby.
