Arizona Men's Tennis Ranked in Latest Polls

TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona's men's tennis team is ranked in No. 61 in the Omni Hotel Tennis team preseason rankings administered by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Individually junior Whi Kim finished No. 102 in the Omni Hotel tennis fall singles and doubles rankings.
Kim slipped to No. 102 after starting the fall season ranked 62nd. Also in the final fall regional rankings, Kim ranked No. 18 in the Western region. During fall play he finished 4-7 while advancing to the main draw of the ITA All-American that included a victory over Pete Stroer of Texas who is also ranked in the final fall rankings.
As a team the Wildcats are ranked at No. 62 in the preseason polls. During fall play, the Arizona captured and individual and doubles championship at the NAU Invitational and had strong individual showings during tournament play. Freshmen Daniel Andrus started his career by winning six straight matches and finished 7-4. In addition, Carl Hagman finished 8-3 to lead the team in winning percentage and also posted a six-match win streak. As a team the men finished with a combined record of 39-32.
The Wildcats will be in action again on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 12:00 p.m., when they will play host to Santa Clara at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center in the opening match of the spring season.
